Global law firm Freshfields is advising APG (acting on behalf of its pension fund client ABP and Swiss pension fund partners) on its agreement to acquire a 37.5% stake in NorthC, a European enterprise colocation data centre platform. The transaction is being undertaken in partnership with Antin Infrastructure Partners, following Antin’s acquisition of 100% of NorthC from DWS.

Headquartered in the Netherlands, NorthC operates data centres across the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland. The partnership between APG and Antin is expected to support NorthC’s continued development across key European markets. The proposed transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals.

The Freshfields team was led by partner Saloua Ouchan and senior associate Joshua Waters. Partner Bob van Kasteren and associate Derk Groeneveld advised on tax matters, while partner Paul van den Berg, principal associate Felix Roscam Abbing and associate Anne Koopmans advised on antitrust & regulatory aspects.
